[851] The Foster Genealogy, by Frederick C. Pierce, shows John as father; Caleb's wife as Martha, dau. of Hugh Smith of Rowley; they r. Rowley,MA in 1691; Caleb's father is supposed the John who became a freeman in Rowley 13 May 1640 and who in his will 5 April 1681 mentions wife Jemima and children John, Caleb and Lydia. Caleb's will was proved 25 March 1690.

[1734] John was 18 months old when he traveled on the Ship Anne with his mother, sister and brother to Plymouth, MA. He had a grant of land in Exeter, 1660, and may have moved to Middleton where one of this name died in Dec. 1686, leaving children (Mary 14, John 11, Richard 7 and Ebenezer, 8 months). He was a wealthy landowner. He is likely the person of his name baptised at Plymouth, MA in 1624 ("Penobscot Pioneers," Gray, p. 76).

Adela, wife of Comte Geoffroy, is named as daughter of Comte Robert in two 12th century Angevin genealogies. Her marriage date is estimated based on the estimated birth date of her oldest daughter. 'Adela' donated property to Saint-Aubin d'Angers by charter dated 6 Mar 974 which names 'seniore meo Gauzfredo comite' and is subscribed by 'Gauzfredi comitis, Fulconis filii eius, Gauzfredi filii eius'. The Chronicæ Sancti Albini names 'Adela comitissaet marito suo Gaufrido' as present at the ordination of 'Rainaldus episcopus' in 1074. 'Fulco Andecavorum comes' relinquished rights to the bishop of Angers 'pro anima patris mei Gauffredi et matris Adelæ' by charter dated 17 Jan 1020. m ([965]) as his first wife, Geoffroy I 'Grisegonelle' Comte d'Anjou, son of FOULQUES II Comte dAnjou & his first wife Gerberge [de Maine] (-21 Jul 987)."
