[782] Nathaniel was a bookkeeper, then schoolmaster. Resided at Portsmouth, NH and then York, ME on a lot previously owned by Alice's father. Nathainel was hired by the town of York 15 April 1701 to be the town schoolmaster. Dead by October, 1727. {A John Freeman, Sr., baptised 28 Jan 1627 at Bellinghurst, Sussex, England, came to Mass. and d. 28 Feb 1719 at Eastham, Barnstable Co.; an Edmund Freeman, apparently his father, was baptised 25 July 1595/6 at St. Mary Church, Pyllborough, Sussex, and died 1 Nov 1682 at Sandwich, Mass. - we do not know if Nathanial relates to them.} Banks' "History of York" states that Nathaniel "was probably son of Ralph Freeman of Dedham who had been living in Boston immediately before his coming to York. The occasion of his coming was probably his marriage to Alice, daughter of John Penwell of York...." This Ralph Freeman was b. cir. 1630 in England and d. 25 May 1718 in Attleborough, MA, r. Dedham, m. Katherine Lions - known children: David, Jonathan (b. Jan., 1653 at Dedham), Mary (b. 5 Oct 1654), Ralph (b. 2 Apr 1662 at Dedham, m. Sarah Day) and Martha.

[4589] http://www.geerts.com/holland/holland-2.htm offers: "Dirk VII was the son of Floris III, married in 1186 with Aleida of Kleve, he was supported by Emperor Henry VI of Germany and appended the 'Grote Waard' to his territory, joined the Welfen party in 1198 and interfered in the struggles between Brabant and Gelre without succes. Dirk VII (Theodore), had a stormy reign. Contests with the Flemings in West Zeeland and with the West Frisians, stirred up to a revolt by his brother William I, ended in his favor. The brothers were reconciled and William I was made Count of East Friesland. During a battle at Dordrecht in 1202, Holland lost the city Dordrecht (1202-1220) and Geertruidenberg (1202-1213) for a short period to Duke Henry I of Brabant (1190-1235), during this battle Dirk VII was defeated and Castle 'Huis te Merwede' was heavy damaged. Henry I removed the toll place at Dordrecht to the river Waal (Woudrichem) more inland. Dirk VII was taken prisoner and had to purchase peace on humiliating terms. He only survived his defeat a short time and died early in 1204 at Dordrecht, leaving as his only issue a daughter, Ada (1187-1227), 17 years of age. Dirk VII de Holland, born 1165, Dordrecht, died early 1204, married in 1186 with Aleida (Adeleide) of Kleve Rhineland Germany."
[22551] See "Magna Charta Ancestry," Douglas Richardson (2005), p. 679 which reports that William is third husband of Katherine and that he was Attorney General to Kings Edward IV and Henry VII, and is son of William Huddlesfield of Shillingford, Devonshire by Alice, daughter of John Gold (or Gould) of Seaborough, Somersetshire and Sampst, Dorsetshire.
