Albert was a laborer, milkman (with horse-drawn wagon) and real estate developer. He and Martha were faithful members of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder on the Church Council. He and his son, Forrest, were avid fishermen and hunters. Albert attended school at Millheim and the Uniontown High School. In 1888 he became a clerk at the John Cook and Son grocery in downtown Akron. Later he worked for Empire Mower and Reaper Works. At age 23 he became a fence and bridge hand for the Valley Railroad, then worked at B. F. Goodrich Co. 1895-1905 he delivered bread, etc. by horse and wagon for the U.S.Baking Co. (later the Akron Baking Co.); he became disillusioned with the company, which after he built up a route divided it - this happened several times. In 1905 he began subdividing real estate, creating 72 allotments, 43 within the city limits of Akron, during a very successful career in developing land. His first allotments were farms he optioned at the growing edge of Akron - he held a picnic on Sunday at the site where he had marked off lots with chalk-lines - during the free picnic he jumped onto a wagon and auctioned off lots, taking down-payments and allowing purchasers to pay off the balance in weekly installments, he paying for the picnic and the land option from the downpayments. When hard times came and buyers could not make payments, he took the lots back, often reselling the same lot several times as the economy rose and declined. He operated with other men in the development corporations, not wanting to be the "front man" but actually the initiator and manager. For example, he was secretary and treasurer of the Ohio Land Company in 1912. He was one of the founding members of the Akron Real Estate Board, incorporated in March, 1912 (see "Akron and Summit County, Ohio, 1825-1928," Scott Dix Kenfield [Chicago: S.J. Clarke Pub. Co., 1928], p. 357) but declined to be its president. He and his wife, Martha, were Life Members of the Summit County Historical Society. [Note: There are several errors in his biography as published in "Akron and Summit County," Karl H. Grismer (Akron, OH: Summit County Historical Society, ca. 1952), pp. 694-5.] Grave markers for his family are on the Internet via http://www.angelfire.com/oh4/AltimusWorks.
"The Akron Beacon Journal [Akron, Ohio]," 21 April 1952, p. 19: "Albert Myers, 1152 Sunset View dr., prominent Akron realtor more than a half-century, died suddenly Sunday in his home. He was 81. Former treasurer of the Akron Real Estate Board and a charter member, he was the father of Forrest D. Myers, a past president. Although Mr. Myers had been in failing health, his death was unexpected. He was born on a farm near Uniontown Sept. 1, 1870. He came to Akron after his marriage Sept. 2, 1894, to Martha A. Briner of Springfield Lake. Before his marriage Mr. Myers worked for the old Valley Railroad and later for the Empire Mower & Reaper Co. in Akron, the B. F. Goodrich Co. and for 11 years was an employe of the Akron Baking Co. He entered the real estate business here about 1900 and had been in it ever since. He bought about 45 farms in various parts of Ohio and cut them up into home sites and sold them. Mr. Myers also has built homes in Akron in connection with his real estate business. He was the 13th child in a family of 14. His father, Samuel Myers, moved to Uniontown from Snyder County, Pa., as a boy In 1812. Mr. Myers was a member of Congress Lake Country Club and Akron City Club and was an elder in Trinity Lutheran hurch. Fond of hunting and fishing, he went on trips with his son and friends. He was particularly proud of the fact that he shot a moose when he was 72 at Lake Nipigon in Ontario, Canada. Mr. Myers and his son had offices together in the Second National building since 1927, when the latter went into business. Last Sept. 2 Mr. and Mrs. Myers celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Besides his wife and son Mr. Myers leaves four grandchildren."
[28186] The web site of MSgt David E. Cann, USMC (Ret.) in 2008 at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~decann/genealogy/master/b703.htm reports "She lived in Hamilton County, Ohio after 1816. She was adopted. Circumstances are not known, but she was legally adopted by John & Mary Markley. . . . She was reportedly of Welsh descent."

[3944] http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/d/c/dcj121/prosop/counts/countyA/county40.htm reports that Adalbert participated "in the foundation of the monastery of Rolduc (Klosterrath). Nearing old age he married Mathilde of Hollende, who gave him the son Adolf. According to the Rolduc annals, Adalbert and Mathilde died in 1109 and 1110 respectively. ... For the lineage of Mathilde, wife of Adalbert of Saffenberg, we assume descent from the senior Ezzonen via the wife of Giso III. We can now posit that Gisos wife was a daughter of Emperor Lothars inferable great-uncle Bruno of Hengebach, whose wife Mathilde appears to belong to the senior Ezzonen, among whom her name occurs readily."
