[39832] In 2015 the unverified web site http://miller-aanderson.blogspot.com/2011/12/anthony-irby-1490-1552.html offers: " Irby-upon-Humber (recorded in the Domesday Book as Irebi). Irby is a place on the Humber River. It likely comes from the name Ivar (Ingvar). The descendents of Ingvar who invaded England with his brother Ubba, were long connected with the Danish coats of arms in England. Irby-on-Humber is situated within a short distance of Humberstone, where Danish leaders Ubba and Ingvar landed in the year 870 to begin their scourge and plunder of Lincolnshire. Humberstone (more recently spelled Humberston) is from the Old English Humbre+stone for "the boundary stone in the River Humber". In the 1086 Domesday Book, it is rendered in its original form as Humbrestone. Humberstone is both a village and parish southwest of Grimsby. The North Sea provides the eastern boundery. In the Anglo-Saxon period, the Humber River was a major boundary, separating Northumbria from the southern kingdoms. Indeed, the name Northumbria simply means the area North of the Humber. The River Humber was once known as the Abus, for example in Edmund Spenser's Faerie Queene. It is only 35 miles long. The Faerie Queene is an English epic poem by Edmund Spenser, published first in three books in 1590, as the allegorical presentation of virtues through Arthurian knights in the mythical "Faerieland." Ptolemy speaks of the River Abus. The original Aryan tribes referred to it as Arbhus; from this root likewise is derived the German Alb or Alp (plural Elbe or Elfen); English Elf with its plural Elves. Thus, the Humber river is the river of elves. In ancient folklore, every home in the Scottish lowlands and northern England has a magical elf called a ùruisg or brownie. Every manor house had its ùruisg, and in the kitchen, close by the fire was a seat, which was left unoccupied for him. As a cultural anthropologist, Anton is a scholar in medieval fairy folklore of the lowlands Scotland and northern England. Much of this folklore has roots in ancient Scandinavia. On September 8, 1069, Danish King Sven II Estridsson Ulfsson came with a large fleet on the Humber and with the support of the Lincolnshire people, overran much of Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. King Sven's uncle Canute the Great once ruled England. King Sven II joined forces with Anton's 26th Great Grandfather Edgar Ætheling, the last remaining heir of the Anglo-Saxon royal house, and sent a force to attack Anton's 28th Great Grandfather King William (The Conqueror) in 1069."

"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 3 February 2015": "Penobscot - Carolyn Blodgett, a well-loved mom, Nannie, great-Nannie and friend, died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, surrounded by her loving family and wrapped in the warmth of the love and good wishes expressed by her many, many friends. Carolyn was born at the Mitchell House in Penobscot, Maine, on Jan. 17, 1928, the daughter of Merle J. and Marie (Mitchell) Leach. After Merles death in 1930, Marie married Carl Bridges, who became Carolyns loving stepfather. Carolyn spent her early years in Penobscot and fondly recalled the many adventures and fun times she had with the gang from 'the cove.' She started high school in Gorham, but returned to Penobscot to graduate from Clark High School in 1945. She went on to attend Gorham Teachers College, leaving after two years to marry the man who had earlier caught her eye during a baseball game between the rival Penobscot and Brooksville teams, Donald Blodgett, who was the pitcher for the Brooksville team. They were married on June 22, 1947, at the South Penobscot Baptist Church. They raised their family of five children living 'over the store' - Blodgetts General Store - a business they owned and operated for many years. As her children grew, Carolyn went back to college to finish her degree, attending the University of Maine at Orono. She commuted from Penobscot to Orono in all types of weather to complete her bachelors degree in 1969, one year before her oldest son, Michael, was born. She continued her education by earning her masters degree, majoring in reading and special education. Carolyn taught for many years at Brooksville Elementary School, retiring in 1987. After her retirement, Carolyn remained active by volunteering her time at the Penobscot Nursing Home and the Penobscot Elementary School. Throughout her life, Carolyn was a civic-minded and involved woman. She was an active member and 'muffin baker' at the Penobscot Methodist Church; member and past president of the Hancock County Retired Teachers; member and past Master of the Castine Grange; member of the Hancock County Pomona Grange; past secretary of the Retired Merchant Marine Association of Maine; past matron and 65-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star; member and docent of the Penobscot Historical Society; and a member of the Maine and National Education Associations.
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Edith Leach, of Connecticut; children Michael and wife, Anna, of Augusta; Jerry and wife, Deborah, of Topsham; Donald of Scarborough; Alden and partner, Kathy Billings, of Penobscot; and Jackie and husband, Robert Curtis, of Blue Hill; grandchildren Todd, Megan and husband, Mark Garand; Jenny and partner, Jameson Hobbs; Matthew, Chandler and wife, Katie; Annmarie, and Andrea; and great-grandchildren Maeve, Maya, and Kayleigh. She also has many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends throughout the United States. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Donald, her parents, her brother, Alan Bridges, her daughter-in-law, Leigh, and a special cousin, Kay Mitchell."
