Irish, "John Irish: His Life and Ancestors, 1086-1677" (Baltimore: Gateway Press, 1991), pp. 64ff., disbelieves the ancestry shown here, and prefers that in Sir Bernard Burke, "A Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of the Landed Gentry of Great Britain and Ireland" (Ulster King of Arms, 1858), pp. 613-14 - Irish states that the Irton genealogy was copied into the Irish family lines by later genealogists. AEM also disbelieves this ancestry, but preserves it here because of possible connection with ancient lines.
