"The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 20 July 1910, p. 3: "Columbus C. Lightner died very suddenly at his home, near Alinda, at noon on Monday. He was not feeling well on Sunday and called in a doctor, but it was not thought bis aliment was serious. On Monday forenoon he was out about the barn as usual and at noon came in to his dinner. He had just sat down to the table when be suddenly fell over and expired. Heart disease is supposed to have been the cause. The deceased was a son of the late Sterrett and Elizabeth (Sheibley) Lightner, of Sheaffer's Valley. He is survived by his wife, who before her marriage was Miss Caroline Hollenbaugh, and two children: Miles, of Falling Springs, and Mabel, (Mrs. Clarence Noll) of Green Park. Three brothers also survive, namely: Ex-County Commissioner David P. Lightner, of Grier's Point; Joseph, of Shermansdale, and John, in the West.
