She will cheat, though it be for a little. Then she has had her gallants, though may be not so many as some ladies here; and with all these good qualities she is a constant church woman'. John Evelyn speaks of her as 'a wise and noble person ... of great soul and much prudence.' Many of her letters to Evelyn and to Henry (Sidney), Earl of Romney, Lord Sunderland's uncle (with whom she is supposed to have had 'commerce de galanterie'), are printed in the latter's Diary.'"
