In 1734 he resided in Kittery, Maine, and in 1737 at Bald Head Cliff at York, Maine. He was a carpenter and a farmer. He inherited his father's garrison house and another house nearby with barns and out-buildings with 30 acres along Spruce Creek. {-see "Hugh Hutchins of Old England," Jack R. Hutchins and Richard J. Hutchings (Baltimore: Gateway Press, 1984, pp. 690-1).} His estate was administered by son, Joseph 20 May 1746.
