[48836] "Bangor Daily Nws [Bangor, ME], 30 June 2008": "Brewer - Fred Crowell Hanson, 89, died June 28, 2008. He was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Bangor, to Walter King and Edna (Crowell) Hanson. Fred was married to Hester Anita Billings in 1942. He graduated from Bangor High School and attended Hebron Academy for post-graduate studies. Fred graduated from the University of Maine in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He often spoke fondly of the summer he spent in the fire tower on Soper Mountain in the north woods of Maine. After graduation Fred accepted a job with Sperry Gyroscope Co., a defense industry company in New York. After the war ended, Fred and Hester returned to Bangor, where Fred joined his father in the family business, Dunham-Hanson Co. In 1964 Fred and his father sold the wholesale division of Dunham-Hanson Co., and retained the retail division, which became Bangor Hardware Co. Fred and Hester continued their presence in the store after their retirement. Fred was very involved in the community through his work with City Club of Bangor, Bangor Noontime Rotary, Bangor Mechanic Association, SCORE, Penobscot County Conservation Association, Conservation Camp and Toastmasters. Fred was very involved with Bald Mountain Ski Area, Dedham. It was owned and operated by Penobscot Valley Ski Club, of which Fred served as president. He was often seen in his suspenders, red flannel shirt and wide-brimmed straw hat operating the water powered saw mill during Living History Days at Leonard's Mills, Bradley. Fred also served as treasurer for the organization from 1994 to 2002. He was a lifelong member of All Souls Congregational Church, where he served as collector for many years. Fred and Hester were members of All Souls Couples Club, where many of their life-long friendships were formed. Fred enjoyed sailing on his boat, the Nereus, fishing, gardening, camping, his camp at Pleasant River Lake and family activities. He loved playing cribbage with his sons and his friends. Fred is survived by his four children, Carolyn Thompson and her husband, Ray, of Brewer, Richard Hanson and his wife, Brenda, of Orrington, Helen Schacht and friend, Robert Hills, of Greenville and Thomas Hanson and his wife, Anne, of Orrington; nine grandchildren, eight great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Bamford of Bangor. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Hester; his brother, Robert H. Hanson of Hampden; and his sister, Marion H. LeBlanc of Bangor."

Find A Grave memorial 54125345 offers: "Robert Pollock was the son of Reverend James Pollock who was born in Ireland in 1762 and died in 1848. Robert's mother was Jane (maiden name unknown). Robert married Sarah (maiden name unknown). Robert's occupation is listed as a farmer in the 1850 census for Lack Township and his property value is listed as $500, which seems typical for that area and time.
Robert and Sarah's children were Margaret, Lydia, Mary Ann, Sarah Jane, Catharine, Martha, Arabella, Nancy and Robert.
According to Orphan Court Records, upon Robert Pollock's death in 1852, two of his children, Nancy & Robert were still minors. Therefore, they were placed with John Kepner as their guardian although their mother, Sarah was still alive. Robert's death certificate lists his cause of death at age 56 as "a kick from another person". Margaret married Michael Rhine and Thomas Korn. Lydia married Ezehiel Campbell. Mary Ann married John Shineloff. Sarah married William Swails. Catharine married John Berry. Martha married Jacob Stetherd McCahan. We do not know what came of Arabella. Nancy married Samuel Berry. And lastly, Robert married Mary Holt Clark.
Robert and his wife Sarah are reportedly buried at the Polk/Pollock cemetery in Lack Township, Juniata County, Pennsylvania, however there is only one headstone in this cemetery that actually displays the "Pollock" surname and that is of Robert's father, the Reverend James Pollock. It is believed that Robert and Sarah's actual graves are forever forgotten with time and the passing of all their immediate family members and friends. It is most likely that they rest under two of the many unmarked field-stones within this old cemetery.
