[1792] William was a sailing captain and explored Florida in 1663 from the Barbados. He came to America with his mother in 1623 on the Ship Anne and is also known as William the Elder. Hilton Head, SC is named for him. He m. (1) ca. 1640 Sarah Greenleave (or Greenleaf - she d. ca. 1657) and (2) 16 July 1659 Mehitable Nowell.
