Wife of General John Talbot, the first Earl of Shrewsbury, married September 6, 1425. Immediately after her marriage, she and two brother in laws, Duke of Somerset and the Baron Latimer, "vigorously maintained the claim to the Berkeley lands." She was the mother of five: John Talbot, 1st Viscount Lisle; Sir Louis Talbot; Sir Humphrey Talbot; Lady Eleanor Talbot m Sir Thomas Butler and mistress to King Edward IV; Lady Elizabeth Talbot m John de Mowbray, 4th Duke of Norfolk. She was named Countess of Clermont because of the bravery of her husband during the wars with France. Lord Berkeley trashed Margaret's manor at Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire, so her son, John, stormed Berkeley Castle in 1452 and took Lord Berkeley prisoner. Margaret then arranged for Lord Berkeley's wife, Isabel Mowbray, imprisoned, where she died the same year. Lord Berkeley then married Margaret's stepdaughter, Joan Talbot, to make peace in 1457, which lasted only until William Berkeley took over for his father in 1463. Upon her deathbed in 1468, she left everything to her grandson, Thomas Talbot, 2nd Viscount Lisle, son of John. She was buried in St Faith under St Paul's at London."

We have extensive informationon Niclolas's descendants who were mostly Dunkard Brethren. Theobald brought the remainder of his family with him including a son Dewald whose information is shown below. Theobald died about 1770 and his funeral was preached by John Conrad Bucher who was a Reformed Minister. Theobald was buried in Bethel Twp."

George r. Groton and then Preston, Conn. His deed in Groton was from Owaneco, son of Uncas, the Native American Chief, and is dated 11 Dec 1691. In Groton he was selectman and held other offices of trust. His ancestry is given in the above references. His will dated 05-Jun-23 was entered for probate 10-Jan-1726/7 at New London, Conn.; it is witnessed by Thomas Clark and Stephen Gates and names his children [will reprinted in Geer Family Association Newsletter, Summer, 1991, p. 34]. George arrived at Boston, MA in 1635 with his brother, Thomas (b. in 1623) and they likely r. Salem or Boston for several years. He probably moved to New London will Robert Allyn, whose daughter he married there. He purchased Robert Isbell's farm, in the northeast part of the present town of Ledyard, next to the Peter Spicer farm; the township of New London included this area then. At the first town meeting (Dec., 1705) George was chosen townsman for the new town of Groton. He and Sarah had eleven children. He moved from Groton to r. with his daughter Margaret Gates in his last years; she lived near her brothers in Preston. He was interred in an old Indian burial ground in the present town of Griswold, about two miles from his daughter's farm where he died. He was blind in his last years. Nickel, 62, funeral director here for the past 20 years, died Tuesday evening at his home, 405 North Market street, following an illness of several weeks. . Born in New Bloomfield he operated a funeral horn in Loysville before moving to Duncannon. He was a member of the Duncannon Lutheran Church; Adams Lodge, No. 319, F. and A. M., the Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Temple, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon the Duncannon Lions Club and the Duncannon Fire Company. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edith 'M. Nickel; a son, James A., at home; two daughters, Mrs. J. M. Hiltner, of Harrisburg, and Mrs. Richard H. Wagner, of Carlisle; a brother, Ernest H., of Loysville; two sisters, Miss Pauline Nickel and Mrs. Helen Smith, both of New Bloomfield, and five grandchildren.The LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File states Casper is son of Andrew P. Nickel and Ella Moses. Casper m. (2) Edith V. Morrow (1888 - 1978, buried with Casper).

[7739] James operated a general merchandise store in Blain, PA; the store and home is at the south corner of Main Street and present-day Route 274. Blain became a borough in 1877, and at organization March 18, 1878 James "Rickart" was appointed president pro tempore; he was next elected treasurer. He also served as postmaster. He and Annie were faithful members of Zion Reformed (now UCC) Church, Blain. He m. (2) 4 December 1918 Olevia Kistler Averill. "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, PA], 24 July 1947," p. 6: "James C. Rickard passed away Tuesday morning, July 8, at the home of his son, Samuel, at 308 Broadway, Meyersdale, Pa., where he had made his home for the last ten months. He was born in Loysville on April 3, 1852 and was aged 95 years, 3 months and 5 days. Mr. Rickard was engaged in the mercantile business for seventy years in Blain and also served as Justice of the Peace for twenty-five years. He married Miss Annie Shope, who passed away in 1917. A few years later he married Miss Olivia Everall, who passed away in 1946. Surviving are one son, Samuel S., mentioned above; one daughter, Mrs. Roy A. Kern, of Middletown; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Lightner, of Harrisburg; eleven grandchildren and a number of greatgrand-children. Funeral services were conducted last Friday afternoon and burial was made in the cemetery at Loysville."
