[168] Richard's obituary in the Akron Beacon Journal 18 July 2009: "Born in Akron, he retired from Burger Iron, with 47 years service and achieved the position of Chief Draftsman. Mr. Weiss was a member of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War ll. He was a very active member of Concordia Lutheran Church, as an elder, teacher, and Boy Scout leader of Troop # 3057. Mr. Weiss taught drafting at the University of Akron and volunteered at Sieberling Nature Realm. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan; sons, Gary (Susan) and John (Lori); daughters, Linda (Jim) Triola, Susan and Wendy Weiss; six grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren; and niece, Pamela Mains. The funeral service will be Monday, July 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 724 Sumner St., with The Rev. Robert W. Tauscher Jr., Pastor, officiating. Interment Glendale Cemetery." Richard enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers 11 Oct 1945 at Camp Atterbury, Columbus, IN for the Panama Canal Department.
