Historical Society, 1966), Vol. 3, p. 258. They descend from Israel Luce who emigrated from Wales with his son Henry, b. 1645, who settled at Scituate, MA about 1666 and moving to Martha's Vineyard about 1670. Henry m. Remember Litchfield of Barnstable, MA (b. ca. 1644, living in Nov. 1808 when she signed legal documents). Henry's son Robert is the father of Joseph Luce (1726-1808). NSDAR 141575; NSDAC 14376. NEHGR 25:261 lists his as "Serj." in the 10th company of the 7th Massachusetts Regiment mobilized for the Battle of Louisbourg (1745).
