[3660] Bela III reigned 1172-1196. He was "brought up in Constantinople and designated to marry the emperor's heiress, when Hungary would have become a vassal of the Eastern Roman Empire, but on his accession he married a French princess and reconstituted Hungary's position. Under him the country achieved great wealth and power, extending its influence far and wide in eastern Europe; Galicia was made a feudatory of Hungary and Serbia a satellite. At home the royal authority was re-established. Urban life developed and western cultural influences penetrated the national life." - Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956 edition, 11:902. Bela m. (2) in 1886 Marguerite, former wife of Henry III of England and daughter of Louis VII of France and his second wife, Constance of Castile (q.v.). Bela's daughter, Constance, was second wife of Premysi Otakar I, King of Bohemia (r. 1198-1230), founder of the Premyslides dynasty; Constance and Bela II had King Wenceslas I of Bohemia (1230-1253). See "A History of the Czechs and Slovaks," R. W. Seton-Walson (Hamden, CT: Archon Books, 1965), p. 389.

She was the sister of Mary Lumbert who married his brother, Daniel Parker. "Benjamin Parker probably inherited some of his father's land in Yarmouth, Mass., and was the only one of Robert's sons to settle in that town. Due to the loss of most Yarmouth records not much trace of him remains. He died intestate, and settlement of his estate was made 19 Aug. 1720. Distribution was made to:"Rebecca, the widow relict of Benjamin Parker of Yarmouth deceased" and "to his eldest son, Ebenezer Parker" as well as to his "eight younger children, Jacob, Elisha, Joseph, Thankful, Hannah, Benjamin, Sarah, and Rebecca" (Barnstable Probates, vol.III, pp.546-547)" (Quoted from The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Volume 112, October, 1958).
