[36779] This person is from the unverified Carson Locke tree in Ancestry.com in 2014 which includes this note: "Edward Saunders, son of John Saunders, was bron in Scituate. He moved to Rowley in 1716, buying the shipbuilding business from the Stewarts who as early as 1680 were carrying on the business to quite an extent, at their warehouse and landing. The Saunders families followed the business for more than a century. In 1813, Captain Nathaniel Perley built a ninety ton vessel on Rowley common, a mile and a half from the river. It was known as the "Country's Wonder." It was drawn to the river in one day, by 100 yoke of oxen. While the teamsters stopped for lunch, Captain Perley poured a full barrell of old Jamaica rum into the Saunder's well, that all might drink. By deed dated 2 May 1726, John Wood sold Edward Saunders a dwelling house, barn and shop, and seven acres of land. This land lies between the old road on the Ipswich line and the present highway. The main house still standing, is of two stories, one room to a floor, and a small entry with a narrow stairway leading to the chamber. The leanto seems to be a part of the original structure. The chimney is on the easterly end of the house, has a stone foundation and contains flues for both the main building and the leanto. This house stands on the north side of Bradstreet Lane. [46844] "Snyder County Tribune [Middleburg, PA], 4 November 1898," p. 5: "Our citizens were surprised Tuesday noon to hear of the death of their fellow citizen Mr. Henry Schoch. Mr. Schoch took sick on Saturday and the end came speedily. Deceased was the oldest member of the Jacob Schoch branch of the Schoch family, being in the 68th year of his age, he leaves a widow and four daughters to survive him, Laura, married to Rev. James C. Shindel; Cora, married to Rev. F. S. Shultz; Verdilla, married to Rev. Travers; Miss Lillie who is at home with her parents. Mr. Schoch was at one time County Treasurer, and was for many years an officer of Trinity Lutheran Church, was also Overseer of ilie Poor of this Borough for a number of years, and was an honest, upright citizen."

Smith was born October 12, 1829, in the township of Wheatland, Monroe county, state of New York. At the age of 21 she was united in marriage to Henry Barton. Very soon after they came to Michigan and settled on a farm of eighty acres, there being just enough timber cut to make room for a little log house. They worked hard for nine years and made a pleasant home of it. In 1862 they sold the farm and bought the home where they spent a happy life until the dear husband and father was called to his Master, April 12, 1904. To this union were born nine children, of whom two passed away in childhood and Mrs. Jennie Snyder, who died in March, 1891. The other six were all with her through her last illness: Winfield A., James H., Jacob M., George E and Mrs. Anna Dann, all of Otsego, and Ella M. Suthard of Detroit; also sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, besides a host of friends and neighbors to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother and a true friend. Five years ago Mrs. Barton united with the M.. E. church and lived a sweet Christian life since."
