An unverified file on Ancestry.com states Michael was b. in 1794 in Centre Co., PA and d. 1861/2 in Green Twp., Summit Co., OH and that he m. ca. 1814 Catherine Emerich, and that Michael is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery in Lake Twp., Summit Co., OH. Ancestry.com offers: "Heckman Name Meaning - Dutch: topographic name for someone living near a hedge, from Middle Dutch hecke, hegge hedge, enclosure. Altered spelling of German Heckmann."
