He may be descended from William Pevrel [sic], thought to be a "natural" son of William the Conqueror by Maud, a daughter of Ingleric, an Anglo-Saxon noble; William Pevrel was in charge of the castle of Nottingham in 1068 and held 162 manors, etc. - he had a son William who had descendants. {- "Falaise Roll," M.
