Harold was the first Christian king of Denmark. We descend from four of his seven known children. The ancestry shown here is suspect; for instance, Harold is probably son of Gorm the Old of Denmark and East Anglia (d. 936) and wife Thyra of Jutland (dau. of Harold of Jutland, b. ca. 852) - se W. H. Turton, "The Plantagenet Ancestry" (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1968), p. 26. Harold VIII reigned 931-979. Harold was fatally wounded during a rebellion by his son and successor, Sweyn I.

(1) at Gloucester 11 May 1711 Mary Hunt (daughter of William Hunt and Sarah Newman) - they had four sons and five daughters; their son Joseph (b. 30 July 1725 at Falmouth) was Lt. Col. in the French and Indian War at Crown Point 22 June 1759 and in 1764 innkeeper of "The Bunch of Grapes" tavern in Boston, MA - it was a meeting place of "Patriots" and the "Tea Party" is said to have been planned there in 1773. {Cf. [3941] Catherine Armstrong (at http://castlewales.com/mar_chld.html) reports: "Isabel married Gilbert de Clare, seventh earl of Clare and fifth earl of Hertford, on October 9, 1217. This was soon after her father had captured Gilbert at the battle of Lincoln in May 1217. Gilbert was thirty-seven years old, but Isabels age in not known. Between 1217 and 1230, when Gilbert died, they had six children. These children were: Richard (d1262) who married Margaret, daughter of Hubert de Burgh, and secondly Maud, daughter of John de Lacy; William (dsp 1258); Gilbert (dsp?); Amicia (d1283) who married Baldwin de Redvers; Agnes (dsp 1226); and Isabel (d?) who married Robert de Brus. In April 1231, William the younger married his sister Isabel, widow of Gilbert de Clare, to Richard earl of Cornwall and brother to King Henry III. Isabel died in October 1239, and her grandson Gilbert "The Red" inherited her lands as well as the de Clare lands on the death of his father, Richard, in 1262."

Michael Motz who served in the Continental Line according to "'Soldiers of the Revolution who received pay for their services,' Taken from Manuscript Record, having neither date nor title, but under 'Rangers on the Frontiers, 1778-1783' in the PA Archives, Series 5, Vol. 4, p. 688.
