He married Susanna Thornton and they had three children together. He also had two sons and one daughter with Mary Ann Tolan. He also had one son with Martha Ann Loving. He died in 1872 at the age of 73, and was buried in Sabine, Texas. Find A Grave memorial 64877114 offers slightly different information and lists his children.

Seiler, 66, of 601 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was pronounced dead on arrival at Shamokin State General Hospital this morning at 7:50. Born in Shamokin, April 14, 1907, Mr. Seiler was a son of the late Victor A. and Sarah F. (Dorwart) Seiler. He was a lifelong resident of the community. Mr. Seiler was a representative of Josephthal and Co. Stock Brokers, Bloomsburg Branch, for 10 years. He was married to the former Dorothy E. Edmunds. Mr. Seiler was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy and Lafayette College. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Shamokin Lodge of Elks. Survivors, in addition to the widow, include a son, Richard, Jr., Princeton, N.J.; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Janice) Gillespie, Allentown, and seven grandchildren."
