Main St., Elizabethville, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, died Monday in Polyclinic Medical Center, Harrisburg, after he was stricken with a heart attack while giving an address at a Memorial Day celebration in Elizabethville. He was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, University of Colorado, Dickinson Law School, was employed by the state Public Utility Commission and was an associate in the law firm of Melman, Gekas, Nicholas and Lieberman, Harrisburg. Mr. Buffington was a member of the board of directors of Lykens Valley Mutual Insurance Company, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, American and Pennsylvania Bar associations, Retired Officers' Association, Air Force Association, Elizabethville Rotary, American Legion and VFW Post. He was a pilot during the Korean conflict. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; his mother, Mrs. Hanna Buffington, Camp Hill; two stepsons; Michael Cusick, California, and Patrick Cusick, Elizabethville; three brothers, Richard, West Chester, David, Northumberland, and Timothy, Camp Hill; a sister, Ardith Ann Buffington, Camp Hill." Lewis also served during the Vietnam War.

She attended Klingerstown schools and was a member of Himmel's United Church of Christ, Rebuck. Her husband, Earl R., died in 1979. Surviving are a daughter, Peggy M. Latshaw, Dornsife Star Route; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Hepler, Pitman, and Louella Maurer, Miami, Fla.; three brothers, Herlen Dietz, Frackville, Ray Dietz, Pitman, and Marlyn Dietz, Harrisburg. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Robert Foust Funeral Home, Trevorton. The Rev. Paul Billow will officiate. Interment will be in Himmel's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Rebuck."
