The Annalista Saxo names 'Heinricum inclitum ducem Saxonie et Bawarie et Welfonem et quatuor filias' children of Duke Heinrich & his wife Wulfhild, specifying that Sophie (named second in the list of daughters) married firstly 'Bertoldus dux de Zaringe' and secondly 'marchio Liuppoldus de Stire'. The 'Genealogia Zaringorum' names 'Sophya soror Heinrici ducis Saxonie' as wife of 'Berchtoldus', specifying that they were childless and that she married secondly 'comiti de Stire'. She became a nun at Admont after her second husband died. The necrology of Admunt records the death 'VI Id Jul' of 'Sophya ex marchionissa cv'. The necrology of Weingarten records the death 'V Id Jul' of 'Suophia com de Stira hic sepulta'. - m firstly Berthold III Herzog von Zähringen, son of Berthold II Herzog von Zähringen [Baden] & his wife Agnes von Rheinfelden (-killed in battle near Molsheim 3 Dec 1122, bur St Peter im Schwarzwald). - m secondly ([1122/23]) Leopold der Starke Markgraf of Styria, son of Otakar II Markgraf of Styria & his wife Elisabeth of Austria [Babenberg] (-24 Oct 1129)."

[649] John Hanson's account book lists her birthday as 10 June 1791 at Fox Island (now North Haven, Maine) and her death as August, 1813. "A Brief History of Vinalhaven," (centennial committee 1889), pg. 50 mentions a John Newbury moving to the North Island in 1768. He was originally from Massachusetts, fought in the War for Independence and was captured and escaped, lived on North Haven until his death at age 95 in 1832, was a farmer, fisherman and boat builder - he MAY be Elizabeth's father or g'father. Also check "The North Island: Early Times to Yesterday," Norwood Beveridge. James B. Vickery, 183 Harlow St. - Apt. 220, Bangor, ME 04401, stated 6 Oct 1994 "John Newbury was not a native of Newbury, Mass. ...I have used the vital records of Newbury - there is not a Newbury listed in birth, marriages or death. There are not accurate dates for his birth or death. In the Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors he is listed as an inhabitant of Marshfield, Mass.; however, I could not locate him in the place in the published vital records. ...The records show he was born about 1743 and died in 1824 or another says 1832. He is listed in the 1790 census of Vinalhaven and buried in a cemetery in North Haven, Maine." Helen Peterson Conner stated that Elizabeth is (grand-)daughter of Ruth Newberry who came to Brooksville from Vinalhaven and was the first midwife in Penboscot. He originated from Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts. He was married to Lucy Snowman on 8 Jan 1782 in York, York Co., Province of Maine, ... intentions published 7 Dec 1781. Lucy Snowman was born about 1763 in York, York Co., Province of Maine. She was baptized on 16 Nov 1763 in York, York Co., Province of Maine. She appeared on the census in 1850 in Penobscot, Hancock Co., Maine age 87, living with Ruth and Charles Perkins. She died after 1850."
