[27674] Gleason attended high school in Lewiston, ME, supporting himself working part-time for a local physician. He then attended Boston University and passed the Massachusetts Bar in 1906. Opening his own law office, he also began instructing law students in his home. This led to his establishing the Suffolk School of Law, now Suffolk University in Boston - founded to offer instruction leading to a law degree to men who had full-time day jobs. Gleason wrote the definitive genealogy "Ancestors and descendants of Joshua Williams, a Mayflower descendant and pioneer" (Boston: Wright & Potter printing company, 1927). For a summary of Gleason's work, see www.suffolk.edu/files/Archives/ms108_findingaid.pdf and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gleason_Archer,_Sr..
