He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Bucksport, the son of William R. and Velma (Hawes) Tapley. Bill had a love for horses. He operated the Wild Wood Stables in Acadia for 20 years and gave carriage rides. He is survived by three brothers, Paul and his wife, Gloria, of Brooksville, John and his wife, Elaine, of Sedgwick, Robert and his wife, Marilyn, of Penobscot; one sister, Ethel Tandy and her husband, Jack, of Brooklin; many nieces and nephews."

Vic attended Winterport schools and received his GED. He worked at Clements Farm and Young Brothers Boat Shop. He was a fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and NASCAR. He also was a member of the Masons, Winter Harbor Lodge No. 0192, and the Knights of Pythias, Schoodic Lodge No. 129. In addition to his parents and a brother, Vic was predeceased by his oldest son, Wayne. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Connie; sons Joel and wife, Angel, Guy and wife, Lisa; daughter Evon; grandchildren Tyler, Age, Alex, Amie, Chris and Melinda and great-grandchild-to-be; and several cousins."
