[54149] "Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Mane]," "Ellsworth - On June 21, 2023, Robert L. Carter, a kind, gentle and loving man who loved life, passed. He was born Sept. 6, 1930, the eldest son of John and Nettie Carter, and he loved every moment of his almost-93 years of life. Bob spent his youth at the foot of Town Hill, and after graduating from Bar Harbor High School in 1948 and making a name for himself as the star pitcher for the Seasiders, adventure called. Wanting to see the world, Bob joined the Navy where he found himself in the middle of the Korean Conflict. He spoke fondly of his sail around the world and was very proud of his military service. The love of his life his dear wife Lois and a son were waiting back home and he returned to a life to raise their family at the top of Town Hill. Bob worked hard raising their five children, but he never missed opportunities to enjoy life. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and later the Anah Temple Shriners. Bob loved music and dancing, and the Acadian Belles & Buoys square dancing group was a perfect outlet for his love. Bob and Lois made many lifelong friends and enjoyed their years dancing. Hunting and fishing with the Harding men was a favorite annual getaway, and he shot many a deer and caught many pounds of fish over the years. Bob took up golf a little later and his skill was natural. At 62, Bob and Lois sold the Town Hill house and moved to Florida where Bob could play golf every day if he wanted to. They lived at Highpoint in Brooksville, Fla., for 26 years and enjoyed wonderful friends there, living as snowbirds and returning each summer to their camper in Maine. They returned permanently to Maine four years ago to be closer to family. Bob Carter never had an enemy and seldom had a cross word for anyone. He was a very sensitive and deeply feeling man and was so very proud of his children, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. He loved his family and was deeply devoted to his dear Lois, who he held on to until the very end. Bob will be remembered by all those who knew and loved him by his smile, his twinkling blue eyes, his love of a good ballgame and a glass of Canadian whiskey on the rocks, his golf skill straight down the middle and his devotion to Lois and his family. Bob is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lois; his son Mike and family; daughter Cindy and family; son Jim and family; daughter Diane; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eldest son, Steve, and his brother, Dick."

[11494] AKA Károly. Charles founded the Angevin dynasty in Hungary and succeeded Andrew III in 1301. Charles was deposed by Wesceslas II of Bohemia later in 1301, but was elected king by the Hungarian nobles in 1308 and formally invested in 1309. Charles levied direct taxes to support his army, encouraged trade and mercantile expansion of the cities, and increased Hungary's territory - thus making her a major power. http://www.thepeerage.com states: "He married, firstly, Maria von Schliesen-Beuthen, daughter of Casimir II Herzog von Schliesen-Beuthen, in 1306. He married, secondly, Beatrice de Luxembourg, daughter of Henri VII de Luxembourg, Holy Roman Emperor, in 1318. He married, thirdly, Elisabeth of Poland, daughter of Wladislaw I, King of Poland and Hedwig Piast, in 1320. He died in 1342 at Visegrad. He was buried at Stuhlweissenburg." [46289] "The Perry County Democrat [New Bloomfield, PA], 15 August 1906," p. 3: "Abraham March, an old resident of Spring township, died Friday of last week at his home near Kansas school house. There are very suspicious circumstances reported in connection with his death. The old man was 86 years of age and lived with his children, to whom he had been a charge for several years. The family consisted of two sons and two daughters Henry, Samuel, Hannah and Jane. They are all grown men and women probably all past fifty years of age. Their mother died when they were little children and they have all lived together ever since in ignorance and squallor. The old gentleman had been afflicted with cancer in recent years and it is said that the girls had expressed themselves to the effect that it was time for him to die. Mr. R. S. Eby, a neighbor, took a kindly interest in the old man and told one of the daughters that if her father died she should come and tell him. On Friday the woman came to Eby's and told Mr. Eby that she 'guessed the old tramp was dead, as he hadn't been down to breakfast.' Mr. Eby in formed Mr. Samuel Kuhn and together they went to the house, where in an upper room, lying stark naked on the floor, they found the body of the old man. It is reported that his body was covered with cuts and bruises and that there was a cut over one of his eyes that had penetrated to the skull bone. His body was cold and rigid, showing that he had been dead for some hours. Whether these injuries were inflicted in his death struggles and by falling out of bed will probably never be known, as no inquest was held, but from all reports the old man had certainly been shamefully neglected, if nothing worse. His remains were buried at Landisburg on Sunday."
