He married (3) Salome Stahlschmidt 24 October 1797 in Tulpehocken Lutheran Church, Stouchburg, Berks Co., PA. 1756: Lancaster County Tax Lists 1751, 1756-1758: Earl Township assessment, 1756 - Listed as freeman were John Matter and Jacob Keesser (70 acres). His will is given in 2003 at http://members.aol.com/brianc4023/myhomepage/Hans_Matter_Descendants.htm which also provides his ancestors and his children and reports: "Immigration: 16 September 1751, "Hans Matter" Port of Philadelphia on board the Edinburgh - listed as "Hans" on ship list but known as "Johannes" or mostly "John" in PA. Military service: 1778, Fouth Battalion, Lancaster Co. Militia.
