He served as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland from 1428 to 1430, was summoned to Parliament by writ as "Johanni de Sutton de Duddeley militi" from 15 Feb 1440 to sept 1485, served in the wars in France, was made Knight of the Garter by 23 April 1459, was Constable of the Tower of London in 1473.... He and Elizabeth married after 1422. From his younger son John Dudley of Atherington, Sussex, descend the earls of Warwick and of Leicester of the Dudley family. John is the 1st Baron Dudley. Cf. Born January 22, 1928 in Perry County, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Loretta M. (Bolden) Palmer. She was the wife of the late Benjamin W. Arnold who died May 7, 1995. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Duncannon Senior Center, the Red Hat Society, the Duncannon Golden Age and Travel Club, the Duncannon American Legion Auxiliary and a past Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack #64, Duncannon. She attended Christ United Church of Christ, Duncannon. Betty is survived by one son, Benjamin W. Arnold II and his companion Mary Jane; three sisters, Helen Louise Stansfield, Peggy Carl, all of Duncannon, and Doris Kritzer of Dauphin, PA; one brother, James Palmer and his wife Patricia of Halifax, PA; two granddaughters, Nicole M. Calvanelli and her husband Joe of Mechanicsburg, PA and Katelyn R. McCormick and her husband Michael of Enola, PA and two great grandsons, Ayrton J. Calvanelli and Declan N. Calvanelli. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews and many loving friends. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by a brother John Palmer."
