She was born November 14, 1927, in Limestone, Maine, the fourth child of Burnice and Janie (Burtchell) Edgecomb. She married Ronald G. Boyd, August 6, 1948, and they settled in Mars Hill. Gertrude worked for 31 years at various potato plants in Aroostook County. She took pride in her work and was a very dedicated employee. She loved her family tremendously and enjoyed cooking for them. Gertrude was a Championship Ping Pong medalist during her high school years. She attended Mars Hill Full Gospel Assembly where she taught Sunday School. A highlight of her life with Ronald was time spent with her family at camp interacting with her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Frances Lake, Stella Anderson; and brother, Burnice Edgecomb Jr. She is survived by her husband, Ronald, of 72 years; her two sons, Gary and his wife, Sherry of York, and Wayne and his wife, Leslie of Holden. She is also survived by three grandsons, Stephen and his wife, Meg of Connecticut, Chad and his wife, Lang of California, and Jonathan of Old Town; and by three granddaughters, Lindsay and her husband, Andrew of Bangor, Melissa and her husband, Jonathan of Massachusetts, Heather and her husband Kevin, of Indiana; twelve great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews."

[53268] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 17 December 1958, p. 8: "The death of Harold Hatch, 99, retired Bangor and Aroostook Railroad trainmaster, occurred at a local hospital Tuesday following a period of ill health. A native of Brewer, he had resided in the community throughout most of his lifetime. He was the son of John and Edna Tozier Hatch. Mr. Hatch had been in retirement in recent years, having completed 44 years of service with the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. He was a well-known sportsman, having traveled widely in Matne and Canada for fishing and hunting. He was the secretary and treasurer of the Penobscot Salmon Club and a member of the board of directors for many years. Mr. Hatch held the honor of landing the first salmon at the Bangor Pool, a trophy sent to former President Herbert Hoover. On another occasion, he was in a boat that landed the first salmon at the pool. He was a long-time member of the Penobscot County Conservation Association, Inc., and of several fish and game clubs throughout northeastern Maine."
