He was well known as The Yankee Painter and had a long career painting signs, race cars and boats. He was also a skilled artist who painted and drew many fine portraits and pictures only seen by a few. David also built muzzle loader rifles. He enjoyed participating in amateur radio for many years as KA1BC. He served in the Air Force from 1960 to 1964. David is survived by daughter Daisy Wight and son Jack Gross of Ellsworth and siblings Cordell, Mark and Alta of Penobscot. He was predeceased by parents Albert and Arlene Gross and brother Sheldon."

[50138] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 31 December 1986, p. 9: "Bangor - Grace (Lord) Bowden, 87, died Dec. 30, 1986 at a Brewer health-care facility. She was born in Winterport. Nov. 15, 1899, the daughter of Lemeul and Grace (Tainter) Lord. Mrs. Bowden taught in the Hermon schools for many years. She retired in 1970 as head teacher at the Eastern Maine Friends of the Retarded. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, a 60-year member of the Hammond Street Congregational Church, a life member of the Bangor Grange, a member of the Literacy Volunteers, and the Bangor Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are one daughter, Nina Hanson of Bangor; two sons, Irving L. Bowden, Jr. of Hampden and Gordon L. Bowden of Brewer; 11 grandchildren 12 greatgrandchildren Mrs Bowden was predeceased by her husband, Irving L. Bowden, in 1972, and a daughter, Shirlie Knight, in 1979." Grace is daughter of Lemuel James Lord (1874-1934) & Grace Evelyn Tainter (1879-1965; m. 19 June 1896 in Winterport, MME).
