[2862] This child and her information is from Patricia McCurdy Townsend (see under John Archer, Sr.) who reports her marriage to Samuel Colson and their descendants. Mary Direxa Haynes in "Maine Families in 1790, Vol. 4," Joseph Crook Anderson II and Louis Ware Thurston, editors (Camden, ME: Picton Press, 1994), p. 13, states that Abigail m. Moses [sic] Colson. In 2002 http://www.burgessgenealogy.net stated: "In The Burgess History Tree, p. 73, Paul Burgess states (without citing his source) that John was born 10 February 1627/28 in Truro, Cornwall, England. We have seen no evidence that places our Burgess family in Cornwall or any evidence of the birth dates of any of Thomas and Dorothy's children, other than Elizabeth (based on her age at death). 'John Burgess, the second son of Thomas, was admitted a freeman in 1657, and served as grand juror in 1661. He early removed to Yarmouth, and was deputy from that town to the Court at Plymouth in 1680. He married Mary, the daughter of Peter Worden, Sept. 8, 1657, and had a large family.'"
Via email, Cheryl Morris [camorris@mars.ark.com] offered 22 Aug 2002: "Per Hiam, Lydia was the daughter of Joseph Burgess [son of John and Mary Worden]. Lydia's mother was Tameson [probably Tamsin] Bangs daughter of Jonathan Bangs of Harwich and Mary Mayo. Hiam quotes the Bangs Family as sources. Lydia was b. May 2, 1704 and d. Jan 16, 1777 and was married to Jonathan Luce of Tisbury. [this is on pp. 83-84 of Hiam's Burgess Genealogy] Lydia's siblings were Joseph who married Thankful snow of Eastham John b. April 5, 1706 who married Hannah Blackwell of Sandwich Jonathan, b. May 5, 1708 who married Elizabeth _ and who died at age 93 Mercy b. Jan 1, 1712 and d. Jan 25, 1795; she married Judah Baker. Remember b. June 21, 1716 and married Israel Cole III of Eastham Simeon who married Deborah Edwards. There is a debate on the Burgess genealogists as to Jonathan and Remember's parentage and marriages. It is very long and complex. You might see Jonathan listed to another parent - Samuel and his second wife, Mary Taylor. Some researchers think Remember was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabth Burgess."
[29157] See http://www.angelfire.com/ny/chickened/crowellfamily.html (not verified) which states John is son of Yelverton Crowell and Elizabeth Hammond and reports "Yelverton Crowell married Elizabeth Hammond. He is found in the records of Yarmouth MA on Cape Cod as early as 1640. His will is dated 23 Dec 1681 and proved 8 Mar 1683/4. It is reported that he died "suddenly" 24 Oct 1683. Elizabeth died Nov 1703. Yelverton may be the son of John Crowell who died in Yarmouth MA 7 Jan 1673; married to Elishua (unknown). This early family is largely undocumented and reliability of information is suspect."
[17520] Olive's information and ancestry are presented by "The History of the Faxon Family," George L. Faxon (Springfield, MA: Springfield Publishing Co., 1880). She is daughter of Daniel Faxon and Olive Thayer. In 1850 her mother was residing with her and Simeon Whitcomb in Randolph, MA.
