Rice, for many years proprietor of the National Hotel, in Duncannon, died at his home in Conewago, Lancaster county, last Thursday morning, in the 87th year of his age. His remains were interred at Duncannon on Saturday. The deceased was a son of Associate Judge John Rice and Margaret (Ickes) Rice, both of whom died many years ago. He was a brother of Oliver Rice, of near this place, and of Mrs. Catharine Aldrich, of Philadelphia. He is also survived by several daughters. Mr. Rice was a genial, intelligent man and had many warm friends who learned of his death with deep regret."
