http://www.sprague-database.org/genealogy offers in 2014: "Benjamin H. Osgood, Jr. went to Brewer, Maine schools where he was raised. He went into the Navy June 1944 in Bangor, Maine. He went to boot camp in Long Island, New York. He was discharged in 1946. He then worked in building construction in Brewer and Waterville, Maine areas for about three years. He then re-enlisted in the Navy in 1949. He went to Great Lakes, Illinois at that time. He was stationed in 1949-1962 Norfolk, Va., 1962-1965 Annapolis, Maryland, 1965-1966 Mayport, Florida and was discharged September 1968 and retired as E-6 First Class Petty Officer.
"Ben's military career spanned a period of 25 years, from early 1944 to when he retired in September 1968. Except for a three year tour of duty at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, the rest of the time was spent on sea duty. He served in three wars, World War Two (WW2), The Korean Conflict and two tours of duty in Viet Nam. His travels during his career has taken him to just about every country in the world. Some of the places were Spain, Philippines, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Viet Nam, etc, etc, etc..
"His service medals and ribbons include the following: The American Theatre, European Theatre, Pacific Theatre, WW2 Victory Medal, Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expedition Medal, National Defence, Korean Conflict, United Nations, Vietnamese Service and China Service Medals.
"Ben then went to Webster, N.Y. and worked for Xerox Corporation as a purchasing agent from 1969-1976. In 1976 he moved to Florida for a short time and in 1977 moved to Mississippi and in December 1978 moved to Crossnore, North Carolina . . .
"He was first married to Elsie Mona Morgrage. It is believed that Benjamin was the father of Elsie Mona's two children. Jack Everet Goode born April 1, 1948 and died February 15, 1979 and Margaret Jill Goode born August 19, 1949. Both children were raised under the name of the first husband "Goode". Ben and Elsie "Mona" were together off and on from 1946 to 1949, as well as later in life in 1965 to 1967, when they all lived as a family with Elsie Mona's other daughter Jayne Inez Locke in Jacksonville Beach and Atlantic Beach area in Florida."
