[16439] This entry is confusing. The book, "Brillharts of America," by John A. Brillhart, has Mary Ann as an Utz. The Oceana County History (1990), published by county historical society (pp. 164-65), has her surname as Tietz. Tad Brillhart offered via email in 2007: "I've seen the alternate last name for her (Tietz), but that is not what is listed in a family list of names and dates made by Samuel sometime around 1915 or so, as far as I can tell. He lists his mother as Mary Anna Utz, and gives her birth and death dates, he covers the rest of his family as well."
