[7384] Patrick sided with the English and in a surprise capture of the castle at Edinburgh took Alexander III and his queen from the Comyns; after Alexander III died, Patrick was a regent and one of the famed Seven Earls of Scotland. - Burke's "Dormant...Peerages." The Dunbar Pedigree by William Jaggard states that he married Christian, only daughter of Robert de Bruce VI by whom he had three sons (Patrick his successor, John and Alexander).
