Ichabod's oldest child. See "The Descendants of Cornelius Corson of Dover, New Hampshire, Vol. 1 (pp. 155ff.)" by Stan Colson, P.O.Box 1837, Leesburg, VA 22075, 12/91.

Descendants of Samuel Corson (Colson) - compiled by Jack Colson: Generation No. 1: SAMUEL4 CORSON, (COLSON) (SAMUEL3, CORNELIUS2 COURSON(WHIT), JAN1 COURSON) was born November 02, 1719 in Dover, Strafford, NH (Source: (1) Vital Records of Dover, N.H. 1697 - 1850, Reprint of 1977, Pg. 23 ( Name spelled Corson), (2) Historical Collections of Dover, New Hampshire, Volume I, Pg. 23.), and died @ 1810 in Cherryfield, ME. He married MARY (MOLLY) GERRISH @ 1765 in Berwick, York, ME, daughter of TIMOTHY GERRISH and LYDIA GRAY. She was born July 26, 1748 in Berwick, York, ME (Baptised), and died Aft. 1810 in Cherryfield, ME. June 18, 1744 - The New Hampshire Revolutionary Rolls show a Samuel Corson to have been a member of a party "Scouting in the woods under Captain Timothy Robards, for ten days from June 18, 1744," at Rochester, New Hampshire. He was also in a scouting party at Rochester under Samuel Miller from June 29 to July 13, 1744. Additionally, Samuel is borne as a Sargeant on the muster roll of Captain James Guppy's company of twenty men who received allowance for services at Rochester in 1746. The possibility of his being a regular Professional Scout or Soldier could also explain his late-in-life marriage to a much younger wife. 1757 - Samuel Corson moved to Cherryfield, ME about 1757, and was one of the towns first settlers, along with Jabez Dorman, John Densmore, and Ichabod Willey. We begin to see the name changed on some records to "Colson" at this stage, for this lines descendants. December 04, 1770 - Samuel Corson, laborer, of Pleasant River (Addison), Lincoln, ME for a Debt of 75 pounds (money), 14 shillings, 9 pence, owed to Captain William Bucknam, gentleman, of Falmouth, Cumberland, ME turns over as Security his homeland, two oxen, two cows, two calves, and all his marsh lands, on the Promise that they be Bucknam's if the said Debt to Bucknam is not repaid in full within two years. Samuel signed with his "x" mark. The Deed was witnessed by Joseph Wilson, and a Benjamin (?). There was also 16 shillings, 6 pence, paid out to Bucknam at the time, perhaps Interest due. On August 19, 1771, Samuel Corson personally appeared and acknowledged the Instrument to Jonathan Bagley, J. P. The Deed was recorded on November 15, 1771. It is not known by this writer whether or not the Debt was ever paid off within the time period, or if the land reverted to Bucknam. (Lincoln Deeds - Vol. 8, Pg. 192 - 1770) (The Descendants of Cornelius Cursonwhit of Dover, NH, Vol. I, Pg. 156, by D. H. & S. D. Colson, 1991)(The Descendants of Cornelius Cursonwhit of Dover, NH, Vol. I, Pg. 168, by D. H. & S. D. Colson, 1991, - for photocopy of Promissory Deed) June 25, 1777 - Samuel Corson enlisted in the Revolutionary War as a Private in Lieutenant Thomas Parrat's Detachment, which was drafted from the Militia. Samuel served six (6) days at Machias, ME and was discharged on June 30, 1777. (MA Soldiers & Sailors of the Revolutionary War, Vol. IV, publ. Wright & Potter, Boston, MA)(The Descendants of Cornelius Cursonwhit of Dover, NH, Vol. I, Pg. 156, by D. H. & S. D. Colson, 1991) December 19, 1778 - Samuel Corson re-enlisted in the Revolutionary War as a Private in Lieutenant John Bohanon's Detachment, Colonel Foster's Lincoln County Regiment. The Detachmant was called out by order of Lieutenant Colonel Campbell in defense of the State stores on board the ship MERRYSHEET from Boston, which, according to the Roll dated at Narraguagus, was bound to the garrison at Machias. He was discharged on January 01, 1779, after fourteen (14) days service. (Massachusetts Soldiers & Sailors of the Revolutionary War, Vol. IV, publ. Wright & Potter, Boston, MA )(The Descendants of Cornelius Cursonwhit of Dover, NH, Vol. I, Pg. 157, by D. H. & S. D. They asked that the government send armed vessels, and sufficient land troops for fortification, and some needed supplies, to protect land and inhabitants. (ME Hist. & Genealogical Recorder, Vols.
