[22896] Information was given by Earnest C. Haws: Mother died in childbirth, child premature. He lived and was taken in by Berry and Caoline Boydstun. He was incubated in cotton batting on the open oven door of the kitchen stove, and oiled down with mineral oil. He was sustained on mare's milk. Burley was raised by his grandparents. Burley Eugene Boydstun was born prematurely and was given over to the care of his grandparents, James Berry and Caroline (Rea) Bodystun. He was kept rubbed with mineral oil in a box of cotton batting near the big kitchen stove. He was nurtured with mare's milk and grew to be a strong man. He remained on the home place until his grandfather died in 1897, whereupon he and his grandmother moved to the Panhandle of Texas in 1899.
