[1645] Richard, 13th Earl (or 5th Earl of Warwick), succeeded his father in 1401, fought on the royal side at Shrewsbury (1403) and the siege of Aberyswyth (1407), made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and left his arms at Jerusalem "in the temple", returning to England in 1410. In 1412 he was in command in battle at Calais. He was Ambassador to France (Sept. 1413) and was chief English envoy at the coronation of Sigisimund and at the Council of Constance (1414). Henry V appointed him governor for his son; in 1428 he was given charge of the little king's education, taking him to France in 1430 (and while in Rouen "had the superintendence of the trial of Joan of Arc"). With the nominal end of the king's minority, Warwick was appointed to succeed Richard of York in governing Normandy - "he died at his post there". He was buried at St. Mary Church, Warwick, where his tomb "is one of the most splendid specimens of English art in the 15th century." - Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956 ed., 23:376. http://members.aol.com/dwidad/beauchmp.html shows him as son of William Beauchamp and Joan FitzAlan.

[24555] In 2007 http://www.answers.com/topic/roman-the-great offers: "Roman was the son of Mstislav II of Kiev. During 1168-1170 he reigned in the Great Novgorod. From 1170 to 1199 he ruled in Volodymyr-Volynsky, which he inherited from his father. In 1187, he made an unsuccessful attempt to wrestle from the boyars the principality of Halych. In 1197 he married Anna, by whom he had four children, including Danylo of Halych. Roman Mstislavich gained nation-wide fame by his victorious campaign against Polovtsi in 1197-1198, 1201, and 1204. In 1199, he became Prince of Halych, uniting Halichina and Volhynia lands in the mighty principality of Halych-Volhynia. In 1202, he also captured Kiev, uniting all South-west Ruthenia under his rule. Prominent as a warlord, Roman the Great was also generally considered a wise politician. He lived mostly in peace with Hungary and Poland, but had uneasy relationships with several other neighbouring states. He perished near the Polish city Zawichost during a march against Prince Leszek the White of Lesser Poland."
