"Problems and Resources in Pennsylvania German Genealogical Research," by Dr. Don Yoder, in "The Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine" (Philadelphia, 1979) Vol. 31, No. 1, p. 6: ""The name Hepler [Heppler, Höppler] was brought to Pennsylvania by the emigrant ancestor Johann Caspar Höppler (1712-1769), who arrived in Philadelphia on the Ship Patience, 16 September 1748 [Strassburger-Hinke, list 122 A. C.]. In Pennsylvania the Heplers were staunch Lutherans and very probably originated in Württemberg, where the name appears to have been relatively common, although in all my serarchings I have not yet been able to come up with the emigrant's village of origin."
