He was a 50 year member of the Castine Oddfellows, a member of the Castine Lions Club and an active life member of the Castine Unitarian Church. He was a self-employed painting contractor in Castine until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Natalie (Crocker) Hutchins of Castine; two daughters, Norma M. Lewis of Chicago and Mary I. DeBeck of Lincoln; one sister, Isabel Manter of Haverhill, Mass.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Castine Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Denis T. Noonan III officiating."
