Also called John II 'the Beautiful' Komnenos Kaloiannis = 'the Beautiful,' intended spiritually, and not intentionally physically. He was born on 13 September 1087. He was the son of Alexios I Komnenos, basileus Rhomaiôn and Eirene Doukaina, basilissa Rhomaiôn. He was crowned Co-Emperor in 1092. He married Piroska, Hercegnő Magyarország, daughter of Szent László I, Király Magyarország and Adelaide von Rheinfelden, between 1104 and 1105. He succeeded his father to the imperial title on 15 August 1118. Emperor in Byzantine Empire between 15 August 1118 and 8 April 1143. He captured Levon I, Prince of Cilicia, and imprisoned him in Constantinople between 1137 and 1143. He died on 8 April 1143 in Çilicia, Byzantium, at age 55 years, 6 months and 26 days. Accidently wounded himself with a poisoned arrow while hunting. Ioannes II Kaloiannis Komnenos, basileus Rhomaiôn was buried in the Church of the Pantocrator, Constantinople, Byzantium."
