[7556] Anne is sister and coheir of Henry Beauchamp, Duke and Earl of Warwick; the earldom passed through her to her husband, Richard Nevill(e). See http://www.thepeerage.com for more on this line. http://www.guide2womenleaders.com offers: "Inherited the claim to the title of her brother's daughter Anne de Beauchamp, though her half-sister claimed the lands and title. After an investigation into Anne de Beauchamp's estates affirmed that she was the heir and on 2 March 1450 a fresh grant of the title of Warwick was made to her and her husband, Richard Neville, who became the 16th Earl, this time adding provision that her sister, Margaret would inherit if the Nevilles remained childless. Anne and her husband were also confirmed with the office of Chamberlain of the Exchequer, which was part of the earldom of Warwick, on 6 December 1450 and her husband took possession of the office. Her half-sisters and their husbands immediately protested, and in consequence, her husband was removed from the office and the king committed it to temporary custodians until the Exchequer court could determine the rightful owner. 1454 they were re-confirmed with the office. After his death in 1471, she took over as Lady of the Isles. Their daughter, Anne Neville, first married the Prince Edward of Wales, and then Richard III."

[6194] http://www.mathematical.com/wassenberggerald1.html states in 2003 that the wife of Gerard III is Clemence de Poiteau (b. 1060, Poitou, France, d. after 1129, daughter of Guillaume VIII (Guy Geoffroy), Duke of Aquitaine and Ermensinde de Longwy. This is not verified.
[8569] Emperor and Stoic philosopher, his original name was Marcus Annius Verus. He is son of Annius Verus, prefect of Rome and three times consul, who was of Spanish background and received patrician rank from Vespasian. Annius died when Marcus was three months old; he was adopted by his grandfather. Hadrian adopted, as his successor, Titus Antoninus Pius, Marcus' uncle, on condition that Titus adopt Marcus. In 139 he was given the title Caesar and dropped the original name of Verus. In 140 he became consul. Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956 (14:871) reports "Last of a line of emperors who all seemed to come little short of the Stoic ideal of the philosopher king, Marcus Aurelius was the best of them all." He was a persecutor of Christianity, doubtless in order to retain the state religion and its explicit support for the emperor. Also see http://www.roman-empire.net/highpoint/highpoint.html.

Louis became Count of Bar via marriage. Montbeliard is a town of eastern France which belonged to the Burgundians and Franks and was added to Lorraine by the treaty of Verdun in 843. "In the 11th century it became the capital of a countship, which formed part of the second kingdom of Burgundy and latterly of the German empire." - Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1956, 15:752. "Ancestral Roots..." (Balt., 1992) 167-22: "Louis, Count of Montbeliard, living 1073, son of Richwin, Count of Scarpone, of Hildegarde of Egisheim." He is also known as Ludwig II von Mousson, Gf von Mömpelgard, im Altkirch und Pfirt according to a 2003 web site: http://genealogy.euweb.cz/bar/bar1.html#D1 - which reports his parents are Richwin of Scarpone, fl 1028; m. Hildegarde of Egisheim; and reports that Richwin is son of Thibaud of Bar, fl 1006; m. Sconehilde _____. Were he and Sophia really THAT young when they married??
