William returned to England to marry Elizabeth Barker, according to the LDS Church's "Ancestral File." Children are also from "Ancestral File" and are NOT verified (1999) and include two more Elizabeths, b. in ME, and a second John, b. 1660 in York, ME, and a second Samuel, b. about 1643 (drowned 24 Nov 1685). This information appears shakey to me! - AEM See "Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire." page 245: "Freethy, William, fisherman, younger br. of (1), came over to Richmond Isl. in the -Speedwell- in 1635, ran away in 1636 but recanted and came back and served his 3 yrs. ending in 1640, when he left promising to pay to Mr. Winter 40 s. his mother had from Mr. Trelawny. Banks ident. him with W. F. who m. in Plymouth 13 Jan. 1639[40****] Elizabeth Barker. Sep. 15, 1640, just aft. leaving Mr. Winter, he and Henry Watts were fined for carrying boards on Sunday. In 1641 he was sued in N. H. court, and in 1643 he was called up for not leading an orderly life. He was liv. in Portsm. In Nov. 1652 he was liv. at York. His old field is ment. in 1665. In 1683 he deeded his lands to sons Samuel and John, with reserva. for his own and their mother's lives. Next yr. appoint. ferryman. Lists 21, 323, 275, 276, (342****). His wife was Elizabeth in 1671, also in 1688 when he sold his town grant. Besides ch. Jane, Samuel and John, to whom he deeded lands, he presum. had others: Jane (or Joan), m. by 1671 Tho. Holmes. Elizabeth, m. 1st Isaac Botts; 2d, July 1679, Moses Spencer, whose s. Moses named his first ch. Freethy. James, town gr. 1680. Samuel, in 1683 with br. John recd. deed of homestead.
