[10414] See article in "Briner Family History" (Harrisburg, PA: 1984), pp. 405-6. Other children are Melinda, Magdalena, Catharina and George, and perhaps (not proven) Anna M. - see "Briner Family History," p. 409. In the 1880 census he is in Toboyne Twp., Perry Co., age 72, with wife Mary A., age 62, niece Anna M. Kern, age 15, granddaughter Ida Shuman, age 11, and "other" William O'Donnel, age 12. The LDS Church's unverified IGI file states that George is son of John Seager and Catherine Fanstermaker. Ray Kohler's data in Ancestry World Tree states: "George Seager eventually acquired the farm of his father. In 1857 he built on this farm a large bard and in 1862 a large brick mansion, occupied first by himself and his family and in 1871 also by his son Jacob and wife. In 1869, George bought another farm, one-half mile east of the old home, on which in 1874 he erected a good house and barn and moved into the house as soon as it was completed. In 1880, he left this farm to his son George D. Seager, who in 1878 had married Lelia A. Flickinger. George Seager, the father, bought another farm one mile north of the old home, on which he built another set of large frame buildings, which he and his wife occupied the remainder of their days." See "The Perry Review, Vol. 30 - 2009" (Newport, PA: The Perry Historians), pp.48-50, for information on George's house in Toboyne Twp.

JANE CURLET: From narrative by J.B. Lutz, Cheyenne, WY, and Elvessa Taylor, Catlin, IL: "His wife shared with him the qualities of honest integrity and unbounded benevolence, but otherwise they were as unlike as it was possible to be. Yet, this seemed to strengthen the bonds of mutual affection between them. "Jane Curlet Taylor, demonstrative, possessed of powerful will, of strong sense, abounding in wit and anecdote, and of almost infallable memory, was ever remarkable for her great social qualities. She was ever ready to relieve the sick and suffering, no matter what their condition in life. Dying mothers would often bequeath their children to her care, and in this way, her house became almost an orphan asylum during the ravages of the Revolutionary War. It is said that at times she would have as high as thirty odd children dependent on her for food and raiment. She, too, was the principal surgeon and physician of the backwoods settlement. With her lancet ready in her pocket, she was always ready to replace dislocatead limbs, set broken bones, lance or bleed as required, with the steady nerve of a hospital surgeon, although the wail of a feeble infant, or a tale of suffering or sorrow would at times bring tears to her eyes. "By the most untiring care and industry, these old people acquired property and raised a family of eight sons and four daughters. Several of these sons had visited KY, and from their representations of the country, the old folks were induced to sell out and move to Ohio Country, KY, where all the sons and the three daughters then living finally settled. Their last days were spent in the home of their son Thomas, where they d. and were buried side-by-side in the family graveyard." Buried in the Milton Taylor cemetery, Ohio Co., KY. He and his wife Hannah were early settlers of Ohio Co. KY. They had a large family and there are still Browns and Taylors living around that area that are related to this family. There are various court records and other county records that prove this family and their children. There is a will of Samuels father in Hampshire Co., VA, listing Samuel and his siblings in will. There are also land record dispute in the Court records in Ohio Co. listing all of Samuels children and spouses. Samuel obtained his land from William P. Duvall and wife Nancy, of Nelson Co., KY, in 1812, for the amount of 75 lbs., but records show he was living there as early as 1804-5, when he built a log cabin there. He sold 713 1/4 acres to five of his sons and a son in law over a period of 19 years. Ref: Hartford land records, and Ohio Co. Court records. 1. PETER3 LEE (WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1) was born January 30, 1749/50 in Richmond Co, , VA(1), and died March 1823 in , Layfette Parish. (now Vermilion), Louisiana. He married REBECCA TAYLOR January 27, 1778 in Hampshire Co., VA2,2, daughter of SIMON TAYLOR and ANNA HITE. She was born Abt. 1763 in Richmond Co., , VA, and died 1831 in Lafayette Pa., La (now Vermillion). REBECCA TAYLOR (SIMON9, JOHN8, SIMON7, RICHARD6,) was born Abt. 1763 in Richmond Co., , VA, and died 1831 in Lafayette Pa., La (now Vermillion). She married PETER LEE January 27, 1778 in Hampshire Co., VA(1), son of WILLIAM LEE and MARY THORNTON. He was born January 30, 1749/50 in Richmond Co, , VA and died March 1823 in Lafayette Parish (now Vermilion), Louisiana. Notes for PETER LEE: Mrs.Bernard Trappey in researching Peter Lee's parentage (applying for DAR membership) hired a genealogist who claimed that Peter Lee was the same person as Peter Lee, son of Stephen Lee and Anne Dunn. This has been proven without any doubt not to have any substance. The church records of St.Martin's church in LA proves that Peter Lee's parents were William Lee and Mary "Thanten", probably Thornton. Also, the NorthFarnaham Pa. Register(Virginia) has the same information as St. Martin' Church in Louisiana. Date of death is from succession of Peter Lee, Lafayette, LA court house. From Va.Colonial Soldiers by LLoyd Dewitt Bockstruck: Dunmore's War 1774 - the names of the soldiers on the pay rolls at Pittsburgh on Cpt. Michael Cresap, Sr. roll were Mark Lee, Peter Lee, Richard Lee, Jacob Fry and others. continue to reside with lee until otherwise provided for. More About PETER LEE: Burial: Vermillion \Lafayette Parish, LA Census: 1810, Attakaps Parish, LA CtRec: July 22, 1817, Vermilion Parish, LA Military: 1774, Virginia

Marriage Notes for PETER LEE and REBECCA TAYLOR: According to Records of SW Louisiana (taken from St.Martin church records in Louisiana) by Rev. Donald J. Hebert, Peter Lee was married to Rebecca Taylor and listed as being from Richmond Co.,VA, or the So.Branch of the Potomac (Hampshire Co.,VA). His parents were listed as William Lee and Marie Thanton (Mary Thornton?). In one instance her name is Marie Hever. Her parents are listed as Simon Taylor and Anne Marie Hydt. This information is repeated in numerous bapt. records of their children. In Louisiana at this time in history, protestants had to pledge allegiance to the Catholic Church in order to buy land, and had to have their children baptized in the Catholic church. Thus, we have many good records giving parents and sometime, grandparents names and places of birth.

From DAR Magazine, Aug 1950, pg.699 are "The Records of the Rev. Thaddeus Dod" contributed by Raymond M.Bell, Washington & Jefferson College, Washington, PA. Among the marriages for Patterson Creek, WV is that of Peter Lee and Rebecca Taylor.

1820 marriage license gives his birthplace as Hampshire Co., VA
