[9016] Robert served in the southwest Pacific with the U.S. Navy during World War II and is buried at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. His father's obituary in 1942 reports that Robert is "of the U. S. Coast Guard." His obituary states he died in a Bangor hospital and was employed by the Arthur Chapin Company prior to his retirement, and then worked part-time at Bangor Savings Bank; it also states "He served in the Southwest Pacific with the U. S. Navy during World War II." He and Abbie divorced.
