[18619] Ichabod was granted land in Penobscot, ME in 1763, but did not pay for it until 19 June 1805 (Hancock Co. Reg. of Deeds, Vol. 16, p. 393). In 1810 he sold part of his lot to his son-in-law, Jeremiah Jones of Penobscot. Ichabod served in the War for Independence as a corporal under Capt. William Reed, enlising 19 Aug 1777 and discharged 28 Sept 1777 - his company was called out by Col. Jonathan Buck of Bucksport for service at Machias, ME. "The Grindle Family..." (1978), p. 18, includes a map showing Ichabod's property. Mark E. Honey ("Castine Patriot," 8 July 2004, p. 5) states "He also was master of a vessel of marquee, the 'Spy,' in Massachusetts." Also see "Maritime History of Brooksville," LeCain W. Smith (Brooksville, ME Historical Society, 2005), p. 55.

Leonard's first wife was Mary. Carol Anderson, P. O. Box 391, Meredith, NH 03253, wrote 24 Dec 1992 that Mary's surname is Redman, and she is dau. of John and Margaret (Knight) Redman, that Mary was b. 15 Dec. 1649, and that Leonard m.
