Buried in Rea Cemetery in Retta outside of Lillian in Johnson Co., TX., off of CR 603. Stone was broken in 3 pieces and on the ground when seen last on 2-8-99 by documentor. 2-9-99 MTRea. Ref. Callan Swenson and Bill Boydstun.4-15-99 MTRea. In 1850, James Berry Boydstun is found in the household of Henry Ground (his uncle's daughter's husband). In 1859, James Berry Boydstun and John Riley Boydstun went by wagon train to Ft. Worth, Texas from Knox County, IL. He settled at Retta in Tarrant County. Both joined the Confederate Army in Texas. James Berry resided in Dallas, Texas, in 1880. Much information on this family comes from the records of Earnest C. Haws of Farmington, NM, a descendant. It comes in conflict at times with the information provided in "The Boydstun Family" by Gladys Domonoske. In most cases, I have used the information as corrected by Earnest C. Haws, but have noted the conflict in a note area.
A biography in the History of Mansfield, Texas, p. 193, written by Earnest C. Haws: "James Berry Boydstun (1827-1897) was born in Warren County, Kentucky to John G. (1805-1847) and Betsy (Atterberry) Boydstun. The family moved to Knox County, Illinois when Berry was 13. "James Berry Boydstun and Hannah Caroline Rea were married on 4 March 1851 in Warren County, Illinois. ..In the spring of 1859, Berry and family, together with Berry's brother John Riley Boydstun, decided to follow other kinsmen who had previously settled around Dallas County (Texas). A trip down the Mississippi brought them to Texas. Berry settled his family on a farm in northwest Ellis County. ..In February 1876, Berry patented 120 acres near Mansfield in Tarrant County (Vol 577 No.3). With the James families nearby, the Boydstun-James marriages began" with four of their children marrying James children. Apparently James' wife and some of his children went to Groom, Carson County, Texas, where she died. Some of the other boys are found in Johnson and Tarrant County, Texas Census in 1880.
"Boydston, Texas was named after Henry Sanford Boydstun, son of James Berry & Hannah Caroline Rea Boydstun. Henry Sanford Boydstun was born in Abbingdon, Knox Co. IL on May 8, 1858. He married Mary Frances James on November 22, 1877 (Mary Frances James was born in Johnson Co. TX on April 4, 1860 and died December 18, 1950). Sometime in (or about) 1887, Henry (along with his father, James Berry Boydstun) went from Ft. Worth, TX to Old Clarendon area on the north banks of the North Fork of Red River -- they passed through what is now Amarillo, TX into northern New Mexico, but returned to Old Clarendon area where Henry filed on the first section that was completely on the plains, being 18 miles morth west of Clarendon (that first filing was forfeited, but Henry filed again). The Boydstun family, Henry & Mary and six children moved to their new home on the plains and spudded in a dugout 10' x 12'. On 28 April 1890, Eddie Boydstun was born and died four days later. Henry Boydstun went to Clarendon for a casket -- Eddie Boydstun was the first person buried in what is now the Boydstun Cemetery located in what was the southwest corner of the section filed on by Henry. Later, Henry Boydstun deeded two acres to the county to be used for cemetery purposes forever. The trustees were Ed Johnson, John Frazier, and Levi Angel." - Lucille Suttle Merrick in "A Chronicle of Carson County," Vol II by Mrs. Ralph E. Randel and the Carson County Historical Survey Committee.

[11382] http://www.geocities.com/janet_ariciu/theBrucefamily.html states she m. Sir Walter Oliphant and remarks: "The marriage of Sir Walter Oliphant to Elizabeth Bruce is proven by a document known as the Charter of Gask, dated 28 Feb 1364, in which King David II, son of Robert the Bruce, bestows all the lands in Gask and a Barony upon Walter Olyphaunt and his spouse Elizabeth, our beloved sister. The original Charter was stolen from the Charter Chest at Gask and was missing for 40 years, but was recovered by Laurence Oliphant in 1786. It was registered in the Books of Council and Session as a Probative Writ on 5 May, 1795 by Mr. John Pattison, advocate, and Alexander Robinson, writer, Edinburgh, Scotland. There are other documents which also confirm the relationship of Elizabeth to David II. One of them is a confirmation of the lands of Newtyle and Kinprony, granted at Edinburgh the same day as the Charter of Gask, by King David II, in which the King comfirms the lands to the said Walter and Elizabeth, his spouse, the kings sister. Another charter on the same day conveys to Walter Olyfaunt and Elizabeth his spouse, the kings beloved sister the lands of Turynys and Dromy, in Forfar."

[5110] Owen ap Meredydd, called Owen Tudor, descends from Ednyfed Vychan of Tregarnedd in Anglesey who was in 1232 a stewart of Llywelyn, prince of North Wales. Owen was a handsome squire at the court of the infant King Henry VI and apparently was common law husband to the dowager queen, serving as her Chamberlain. See http://www.thepeerage.com/p5100.htm.
