[642] Anthony (Jr.) was at Falmouth (now Portland) in 1660, selectman in 1680, assemblyman in 1681 and 1682. He m. (1) Anne Mitton (d. Sandy Beach, NH ca. 1677) and (2) Susannah Drake 19 Nov 1678 (she d. Nov 1719). He was killed by Indians. "History of Portland," by William Willis (1833), includes an account of him and family escaping from the Indians in a stolen birch bark canoe which had been mended by his wife, Ann Mitten. Family Tree Maker's "Early New England Settlers" (CD #504) reports "He was lieutenant and captain in the war, and was finally killed at his house 21 Sep. 1689. His son Anthony was also lieutenant and captain in Indian hostilities."
