He was born Nov. 18, 1926 at Danforth, the son of Robert and Vidie (Boyington) Leighton. He attended Danforth schools and before his retirement he was a mill worker at Gillis Lumber Mill, Danforth. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the National Guard, and he served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps during the Korean War. He was past commander of the Rex L. McKenney American Legion Post and a member of the DAV Bernard Coro Post of Millinocket. He was also a member of the Danforth Baptist Church. Surviving are several nieces and nephews."
