[54430] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 22 May 2020: "Kenduskeag - Wilfred E. Bowden 'Bud', 88, passed away, May 20, 2020, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bangor. Bud was born on September 19th, 1931 to Ford and Nellie Bowden. After graduating from Brewer High School, he followed a military career path serving first in the Navy, then the Army Reserves, finishing up in the Air Force, where he proudly served 25 years. In 1956, Bud married the love of his life, Doris (Smith) Bowden. Together, they raised three children, Dennis, Karen, and Rick. This past December, Bud & Doris celebrated 63 years of marriage. They resided in Kenduskeag for most of those years, serving as the town clerk and tax collectors. They were members of the Kenduskeag Union Church, volunteering their time to help with church suppers and the food cupboard. Bud never knew a stranger in his life. No matter where he went, he would know half the people there. The other half he would know before he left, often bringing out pictures of his beloved family, which he took with him wherever he went. He was incredibly proud of them all. Bud was an avid University of Maine Men's Hockey fan for more than 30 years, holding season tickets for much of that time. He went to nearly all of the home games, often letting the referees know when they were wrong. Bud never met a dessert he did not like. Square, cake, or pie, Bud was up for a try. Bud was predeceased by his mother and father; his siblings; Eugene, Margaret, and Leslie; as well as his daughter, Karen. Bud is survived by his wife, Doris; his children, Dennis and his wife Dianne Bowden, Rick and his wife Gina Bowden; his grandchildren, Andrew Bowden, Danielle Neal, and her husband Ben Neal, and Ryan Bowden, and his great-grandchildren Brooke Bowden, Olivia Neal, and Kira Neal."

[29381] This line and information are from an unverified posting by Jeffrey Owens 30 Sept 1999 in rootsweb.com which offers: "He lived at Cape Rosier at Brookville, ME. He was a soldier at Fort Pownell in 1762. Signed a petition to Gov. Bernard in 1784. In 1784 he was living at Penobscot, Maine on 200 acres originally settled in 1765 by John Redman, while the 75 acres he had settled in 1765 was, in 1784, occupied by Israel Redman. He must have married the widow of John Redman, which would account for the shifting about of Redman-Colson properties and also John Colson calling Benjamin Redman his son-in-law in 1792. In 1800 census John says he emigrated from old York and he was born before 1755, but old enough to be a soldier in 1762." The unverified Kim Robie Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2013 states John was b. ca. 1733 in Berwick, York Co., ME.
