John was Lord Botetourte of Weobley Castle. He m. (1) Elizabeth la Zouche de Mortimer (d. 13470 and (2) Joyce la Zouche de Mortimer with whom he had Joyce de Botetourte (1367-1420). http://www.thepeerage.com/p5943.htm reports "He succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Botetourt [E. ,1305] on 25 November 1324. On 16 July 1338 he had livery of his mother's lands. He fought in the French wars, where he distinguished himself. In 1341 he had livery of his father's lands. On his death, his barony is held to have become dormant until succeeded to by his granddaughter, Joyce."

Henry forced Emperor Henry IV to recognize him as Duke of Lower Lorraine ca. 1089, but was deposed and imprisoned (1106). Encyclopaedia Britannica
(1956; 14:127) states that his father is Walram of Arlon, first Count of Limburg, who married Judith, daughter of Frederick of Luxembourg (Duke of Lower Lorraine, d. 1065). Limburg was one of many small feudal states into which the duchy of Lorraine was divided in the second half of the 11th century. NOTE: Henry I is listed TWICE in this database, in order to show two separate posited ancestries for him!! - see also "Henri I, Count of Limburg" - where his genealogy is given!

There are conflicting accounts of his parentage, one popular solution making him son and successor to a count Berenger (sometimes identified with Berengar of Rennes, sometimes with that man's supposed maternal grandson of the same name) by a daughter of Gurvand, Duke of Brittany. However, an 11th century collection of Angevin genealogies shows him to be son of Pascweten, son of Alan I, King of Brittany. He is first documented as count in 944. He witnessed charters of Alan II, Duke of Brittany, and on the latter's death apparently fell under the control of Wicohen, Archbishop of Dol, later sources reporting the rescue of Judicael and his (unnamed) wife by son Conan. He appears to have been dead by 979, when his son was at the court of Odo I, Count of Blois."

[26630] Perhaps Barbara is daughter of Johann Nicholaus Schneider (b. 10 April 1703 in Diedendorf, Alsace, Germany, d. in PA, son of Hans Ulrich Schneider (b. 20 Sept 1669 in Melchenau, Canton Bern, Switzerland, d. 23 Feb 1742 in Northampton Co., PA, son of Joseph Schneider [b. 1640 in Melchenau, Canton Bern, Switzerland]) and Anna Catharina Rohr (b. 3 March 1677 in Canton Bern, d. 13 March 1743 in Northampton Co., PA, m. 13 Sept 1701 in Diedendorf). "The Edde/Conner Family Page" by Richard Edde reports Nicholaus "Came to America on the 'Robert & Alice' on September 11, 1738, with his brother Johan Friedrich and his uncle Johannes. His brother Johannes came in 1741 on the 'Lydia.' Johann Nicholas was a school teacher in Rauweiler and a linen weaver by profession. Six of his children were baptised in Rauweiler between 1725-1737. He imigrated to America at the age of 35, arriving in Philadelphia on September 11, 1738. His family were members of the Egypt Reformed Church in Northampton County, PA. where he acted as scribe and interpretor of the Dutch language. In 1744 he sent a letter to his sibling in Diedendorf containing receit for his share of his father's will. . . . Hans Ulrich Schneider was a Weaver, Linenweaver, Almossenpflegor at Diedendorf. Five of his children emigrated to America: Johann Nicolaus, Johann Friedrich, Johannes, Maria Esther, and Johann Daniel."
