She attended Colby College and graduated from Eastern State Normal School at Castine. She worked many summers at the Wilson Museum and was a Trustee. She was a deacon of the Trinitarian Church in Castine and active in its Dr. Mary Cushman Circle. She was a 70 year member of the Castine Grange. "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 21 Jan 1997," p. 17: "Penobscot - Dorothy (Connor) Farnham 84 died Jan. 17, 1997 at a Penobscot nursing home. She was born April 14, 1912 at Castine, the daughter of Irvin and Emma (Carter) Connor. She was predeceased by her husband, Hollis L., in 1975; four sisters and four brothers. After attending Castine schools and Colby College she graduated from the Castine Normal School. She is survived by her children, Beverly F. Henry of Oradell, N. J., Barbara Willis of Castine, and Dennis Farnham of Penobscot, and was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Rachel Harman. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Edwin R. Henry V of Tempe, Ariz., Nicole H. Florio of Maywood, N.J., Peter Willis of Hookset, NH, Dana Willis of Penobscot, Dennis Farnhom Jr of Bucksport, Teresa Higgins of Lewiston, Debra Farnham of Prospect, Linda Gray of Orland, Michael Harman of Millinocket and Joseph Harman of Castine; two stepgrandchildren, Stephen Farnham of Bucksport and Rosemary Begley of Castine; nine great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren. Dorothy had taught school in East Orland, Franklin and Casco Bay, and had worked many summers at the Wilson Museum in Castine to whose archives she has contributed much knowledge of Castine's history. Many organizations included her in their memberships: 70 years in the Castine Grange and the Eastern Star, member of the Castine Women's Club, the Penobscot Historical Society where she was a life member, and the Mary Cushman Circle. She was a deacon of the Trinitarian Church of Castine and a trustee of the Wilson Museum."

[46448] "Bangor Daily News, 4 April 2020": "Doris G. Kinney, 81, of Northport, Maine passed away peacefully on March 30, 2020, in Temple Terrace, Florida, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 21, 1938, the daughter of Leslie and Christine (Irving) Grindle. Doris was predeceased by her parents; two sisters Christine "Betty" Larrabee of Belfast, Evelyn McIntire of Belfast; and brother Leslie 'Raymond' Grindle of Searsport. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, David Kinney of Northport; daughters Tammy Annis and husband Howard of Augusta, Terri Curtis and husband Greg of Belmont, and Penny Kinney of Augusta; granddaughters Mindy Mathieu of Augusta, Shanna Barrows of Belmont, Natasha Jensen of Topsham; grandson Kyle Curtis of Dedham Massachusetts; nine great-grandchildren Cooper Loiko, Adria Barrows, Brody Loiko, Benjamin Sidelko, Jenna Jensen, Jaelyn Jensen, Mackenzie Barrows, Josie Jensen, and Jaclyn Jensen; and many dear family and friends. Doris was a 60+ year member of the Rebecca Assembly of Maine, where she gained lifelong friendships with her sisters in both Monroe, and Searsport lodges. Doris enjoyed spending her retirement years traveling with her husband David and experiencing the world with him. Her favorite vacation spot was Australia. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family. She could be found at every grandchild and great-grandchild's sporting event, concert, or theater performance. She was the biggest cheerleader for every person in her family. A high school basketball and softball player herself, she loved watching her Red Sox and Patriots teams bring home many championships. Some of her favorite hobbies were gardening, she had beautiful gardens around her house, baking, and cooking, many people enjoyed grams yeast rolls, pies, cakes, her well known no-bake cookies, and home-cooked meals. She also enjoyed trips with their antique car, going to lunch with friends, attending church fairs, getting a great deal at a yard sale, shopping, painting, visiting friends who were housebound, and hosting many family gatherings/lobster bakes at their home overlooking the ocean. Doris was known for her resilience, her passion for life, her sense of humor, her wisdom, and her laugh. She will be greatly missed by so many. An announcement to follow for a summer memorial service at a later date."

Amadeus VI (January - March 1, 1383), surnamed the Green Count (Italian: Il Conte Verde) was Count of Savoy from 1343 to 1383.
He was the eldest son of Aimone, Count of Savoy and Yolande of Montferrat. His maternal grandparents were Theodore I, Marquis of Montferrat and Argentina Spinola.
In 1349 Humbert II de La Tour du Pin, Dauphin de Viennois, the last Dauphin de Viennois surrendered his title and principality to the future Charles V of France. At the time the new Dauphin was grandson of current King Philip VI of France and son to his Heir Apparent, the later John II of France. Humbert II retired into a Dominican monastery. Amadeus, angered by this cessation, which had created a formidable neighbour to Savoy, went to war with France, which he defeated in 1354.
In a treaty concluded in Paris in the following year Amadeus agreed to exchange territory in Dauphiné beyond the Rivers Rhone and Guiers, in exchange for recognition as the undisputed sovereign of Faucigny and the county of Gex, as well as becoming the suzerain lord over the Counts of Genevois, all of whose titles had been the subject of earlier contention between the Counts of Savoy and the Dauphins of Viennois. Amadeus also forced the Marquess of Saluzzo to pay him homage, this extending his rule to the Italian side of the Alps.
This made him an important player in the politics of Northern Italy. The Republic of Genoa and the Republic of Venice had for long argued over the ownership of the island of Tenedos in the Aegean Sea. Eventually it was agreed that the Island should be entrusted to the Count of Savoy. Later Amadeus would be persuaded by Pope Clement VII to accompany Louis I of Naples on an expedition to Naples. Here in 1382 the Count would share with Louis in the successful conquests of Abruzzi and Apulia.
Amadeus initiated a minor crusade in 1366 against Murad I of the Ottoman Empire to aid his second cousin, John V Palaiologos, the Byzantine Emperor. The nickname the Green Count refers to his habit of dressing in this colour and appear in state occasions surrounded by green-dressed escort.
In 1381 at Turin, he mediated between Genoa and Venice and sponsored the peace treaty which brought and end to the War of Chioggia and the larger Venetian-Genoese War. He died at Campobasso in 1383.
An unverified tree in Ancestry.com in 2018 offers: When Anna Mathilde (Annie) Updegrave was born on May 23, 1882, in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania, her father, Edward, was 27, and her mother, Amanda, was 27. She had three sons and one daughter with James E Geist between 1903 and 1925. She died on October 3, 1962, in Williams, Pennsylvania, at the age of 80, and was buried in Williamstown, Pennsylvania. Edward Updegrave was born in 1855. Amanda Bixler was born in 1855.
"West Schuylkill Herald [Tower City, PA], 5 October 1962," p. 6: "Mrs. Annie M. Geist, 80, widow of James E. Geist, died Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marlin Esterline 626 W. Market St., Williamstown. She had been ill for several years. Born in Schuylkill County, May 23, 1882, Mrs. Geist was a daughter of Edward and Amanda Bixler Updegrave. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Williamstown. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Esterline, Williamstown; one son, James T. Geist, Tower City; eight grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon from J. Franklin Lyons Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Zimmerman, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the Methodist Cemetery, Williamstown."
